Two of the most influential Russian style-setters, Mira Duma and Lena Perminova, are already proud owners of Olga Prokopova’s architectural jewelry designs. The rest is lining up to get at least hold of one of Olga’s unique statement pieces (waiting lists are endless)…

The Russian-born ex-lawyer turned journalist, who is based in Moscow, decided to quit her job and go solo in 2012 “I have a degree in law and was meant to deal with international relations, but my true passion has always been fashion and art. I was working as jewelry editor at Tatler, Condé Nast, when the idea of creating my own brand came up to my mind“.

Olga founded her label, Volha Jewelry, based on a very simple principle: take nature’s materials, colors and architecture as your prototype. Each piece is made of natural stones and minerals and not part of a line production. Uniqueness is key to Olga’s concept.

We have met the designer and talked about jewels, style icons and raw food…

Volha jewelry is a young, dynamic and desirable label, giving birth to artfully crafted pieces that not only look good but most importantly are fun to wear – on your body, not your wall.

WTL: What was your inspiration and theme for your current collection?

OP: I believe that cross-discipline exchange of experience and inspiration can lead to cutting-edge design. This is how our Urban Collection was born – a juxtaposition of fashion and architecture, infusing passion for genuine materials and color with bold and graphic forms of monumental art.

WTL: What are the most challenging materials and shapes to work with?

OP: Mixing raw components with refined detailing.

WTL: What in life makes a fire burn inside of you?

OP: New experiences, meeting soul mates, enjoying yoga, eating raw food, and jogging.

WTL: Raw food? What was your motivation to change your diet?

OP: My body literally asked me for it. I have discovered the raw food lifestyle about two years ago. I came across the books by Sergey Gladkov and Victoria Boutenko and it was such a turning point for me. I started to make green smoothies, juices, raw blended soups etc. in combination with pure water, fresh air and exercise. I am so grateful to have discovered this new way of living. The health benefits are truly amazing!

WTL: What is your favorite raw recipe?

OP: I love to start the day with green smoothies. Here is my favorite one: place the following ingredients in a high speed blender: 1 apple, 1 pear, 1 kiwi, a handful of spinach or kale, 1 tea spoon spirulina, 1 tea spoon milled walnut, 1 cup water, and at the end add the juice of half a lemon. Enjoy, stay healthy and full of energy!

WTL: What describes you better: daydreamer or realist?

OP: I prefer balance, so I am a bit of both.

WTL: What style advice would you give?

OP: To create an elegant, emotional and evocative style, add statement pieces from the Volha collection.

WTL: Can you describe your personal style?

OP: Mixing arty, sporty, classy pieces with different texture. Color is essential to me. It’s the spirit and the soul of a look. It defines shape and has an impact on the mood and energy of the owner.

WTL: What influences your designs the most?

OP: Planet Earth and nature is the pure source of inspiration.

WTL: What do you like to do when you are not designing?

OP: Dreaming…

OP: Metaphysics, raw food and Machiavelli “il principe”

WTL: What is your dream destination you love to travel to?

OP: Japan, Peru, and Iceland.
